Lemon Battery

We tried to power a small light bulb, a clock and a buzzer using a lemon as a power source!
Our attempt failed and we discussed why. Were the 2 pence pieces copper? Did we use enough lemons?
Was the circuit closed?  We will try again using some pure copper instead of the pennies as it should have worked!

Thank-you!

A big thank you to everyone involved in making the Children in Need fundraising go so well.
We made £166.05, which was a fantastic effort. Thanks to all those who baked and to everyone who enjoyed the day with us. A special thanks to all the children (and parents) who made the trip to Radio Orkney to deliver the money personally.

Aquamarine Visit

On Tuesday the 23rd p6/7 visited Dounby Primary School to take part in a renewable energy workshop.
The main focus of this was on the 'Oyster' a device designed to make electricity from wave power.
We were able to see a model Oyster in action and have see how it worked.
